Still Waiting

No sign of my rovings or spindle yet. Once again I got impatient and made two rovings last night. One I managed to spin already and is drying as I type. The other I am saving for Ravelry's Spindlers Group monthly challenge (and my new spindle hopefully). Which I think is titled "Welcome to the Madhouse"and I'll start spinning it Tuesday to be fair. So here it is, my home hackled, firestar (I always want to type starfire, probably my Teen Titan subconscious thoughts), and my 85% wool, 15% mohair roving.

I don't know why but the colors are kinda funky, I think it was my computer's photo auto correct. Enjoy. :)

OK OK OK!

I have been leaning towards making a necklace with this yarn (even before I made it :-X ) and I have found a few, OK more than a few, designs I want to do!
I'm not going to post their pictures because for one most people don't like that, and two, well I just don't feel like it. Come on! Two post in one day, what do you want from me?
Crochet Skull
I have a few picks from this person blog. Love 'em. Simplistic look that really would go with a lot of things. I <3 skulls by the way. Sugar skulls are some of the most beautiful things I can think of.
Ruffled Bib
Another pretty one that would match a few things.
Triangle Bib
I like, not sure why. But I like it.
Circle Flower Necklace
After seeing a scarf pattern that had these connected circles I have been looking for this method everywhere. I couldn't for the life of me find how to do it. And now I have found a miniature version. I might just make this for the learning experience.
Laced Ball Necklace
Sooo cute! I'm hoping I have enough yarn to do at least more than one of these, If I do I am definitely doing this one. But to be honest, I think my yarn is too bulky :(
Ring Necklace
I don't know why but as soon as I saw this one I was pretty sure I was going to make it. I really hope I have enough yarn for more than one of these patterns!

Plying, Plied, Ply?

That word is a little intimidating to me, mostly because I think plied isn't the right way to spell it. Like 'dyed' or 'dying'. ANY WAYS! I've been busy with school (We know already! School all the time!) But I managed to spin some mystery fiber and a very little firestar together AND ply it. I got impatient waiting for my new spindle and the two rovings (which I still haven't gotten yet :( I'm going to blame it on the holiday Monday). Well! I found some black fiber that came with my order of all that undyed wool I got and sense I didn't have to hackle it I lazily tossed in that angel fire (maybe I should have hackled it...) and TADA! I managed to spin almost lace weight, on a 1.5 oz spindle I might add, and ply it. After many frustrating events of my spindle trying to leap to it's death I finally spun over 160 yards. Then I plyed it, which I had yet to do with my own spun yarn. So here are some pictures :) The only interesting part of my post!

Hello :D

BUSY BUSY BUSY! Last week I had a few unit test AND work! But work equals money so I can't complain. And money equals a new spindle, some firestar samples, and two beautiful roving! This spindle I have been eyeballing for ever it feels like and yesterday morning I finally gave and went ahead and bought it. I love love love goldstone. I just wish it was blue goldstone instead but I am still really excited to get something other than my starter wood spindles. I bought it at Zebisis Designs on Etsy. And along with my new spindle I went and bought a roving of wool that I won't have to hackle myself, and to finally try out this merino everyone is raving about. With it I bought some white merino which I will be adding my firestar to. Not sure what I am going to make with it, but I'll figure that out when I see how many yards I have to work with. AND NOW ONTO THE PICTURES!
Saras Texture Crafts is some of the best priced fibers around. I haven't ordered from them before but I'll update you on the quality once I get it. Only kicker is that they are located in the UK and I'm over in the US, so shipping is a little high, but the amount you get (3.5 OZ for $5, can NOT beat that) for the price is worth the shipping.
Isn't it pretty? What to do with it?  I'm not sure yet.

This is my white merino that I will be mixing my firestar with. I got my firestar at Wind Rose, I got a small sample but this seems like something you don't want to add too much to or else it will probably be really itchy, and really shinny.

On another note I have made an entire purse in almost one night from a modified version of this pattern. I used wool yarn I dyed and plied myself. I made it pretty much for holding school books and note books for when work starts back up.

Super Stretchy! This is with a gallon jug in it.
Last post I forgot that I didn't take pictures of the original five yarns I had created. It's like Christmas when you find five finished skeins (I use that word loosely, they are each about 35 yards long).

Next post I'll try to get a nice group photo of the hexagons I have been making with my yarn. It is going to be a long long time before my throw is done but I hope the colors don't contrast too much, Maybe I'll arrange them in a rainbow pixel effect. :)

SO Sorry!

School has been kicking my butt these days. I have to really focus now that I'm in the home stretch and my GPA is a little sub-par to where I would like it to be. This does not mean that I have not worked on my hackle/wool/spindle/yarn love lately. I'll take some pictures today while there is still daylight and try to post them ASAP. I am super happy with my colors and I just want to make more and more! BUT I need to start making those awesome hexagons for my future blanket! :) ALRIGHT! Back to some more reading (then maybe some groceries and more reading!), then sleep? No! I have a raid to attend!
